What is a Hallmark?

A hallmark is a UK Government seal which certifies the purity of precious metals. It is stamped on jewellery by one of four Assay Offices in the UK. 

I am registered at Edinburgh Assay Office. All my pieces are tested and hallmarked so you can be sure you are receiving only the finest of precious metals. My sponsor's or maker's mark is also applied by the assay office alongside hallmarking.
